a native of austin, texas, mark lind has lived in san francisco, copenhagen, and central arizona.

as a graduate student in architecture at arizona state university.
mark's thesis project analysed the thermal efficiency of the three stages in the evolution of public architecture - from pithouse to pueblo to cliff dwellings.

as his studies of native american architecture progressed, mark's interest in pueblo architecture led him to photograph, sketch, and then ultimately, to paint these examples of an environmentally- sensitive and energy-conscious prehistoric culture.

these ruins and artefacts, created by a culture a thousand years old,
whisper a quiet lesson to those today who have the will to listen.
